Abstract　： [Abstract] Effects of a herbal mixture, TJ-960, on the expression of the seizure-related gene, PTZ-17, were examined. TJ-960 completely normalized intracellular calcium increase induced by a convulsant drug, pentylenetetrazol, in Xenopus oocytes injected with PTZ-17 RNA. This result together with the previous findings suggest that TJ-960 is a promising future anticonvulsant drug which not only has an effect on the normalization of abnormal intracellular calcium increase but also presents the possibility of a gene therapy which is based on a completely different concept than the conventional therapy.
