Abstract : | [Abstract] The main purpose of surface treatment is to improve the function of the base material by improving its original properties or changing its physical properties. Sputtering, a surface treatment technique, can produce a dense crystal surface structure. For this reason, we applied sputtering to dental metal coating for surface treatment. Cast samples of 12% Au-Ag-Pd alloy were used as the metal to be coated. The surface was coated with Ti or TiN using a dental sputtering system, and the surface properties, color, and adhesiveness of hard resin were evaluated. The hardness increased in proportion to the powerand was higher in the TiN-coated samples than in the Ti-coated samples. Color was compared between TiN-coated samples and dental gold alloys. The color was similar between samples coated with TiN at an electric discharge power of 200W and the 14k gold alloy and between samples coated with TiN at 300・450W and 20k gold alloy. The adhesive strength of Axis, hard resin using thiophosphoric acid as a primer, was increased by 20% for the Ti-coated samples and by 10% for the TiN-coated samples compared with control samples. The adhesive strength of Solidex, hard resin using carboxylic acid, was also increased by 20% for the Ti-coated samples and 30% for the TiN-coated samples compared with the control samples. Surface treatment by sputtering not only changes the properties of the base material but also is effective from the complex aspect and has potential in terms of biocompatibility. |
