Abstract : | [Abstract]The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of irradiation duration on the poly merization behavior of dual-cured resin composite indicated for core build-up (Clearfil DC Core Automix, Kuraray Co.,Ltd.). Polymerization radicals were analyzed with Electron Spin Resonance (ESR) spectroscopy. A comparative analysis was performed using three sample groups: a chemically cured group, a group dual-cured under irradiation for 20 seconds and a group dual-cured under irradiation for 60 seconds. The ESR spectrum of the sample groups was recorded at one-minute intervals for 60 minutes. The spin concentrations (max. value) were subjected to comparative analysis. The results of the analysis revealed that a higher degree of polymerization was achieved in the irradiated groups compared to the group polymerized solely by chemical reaction without irradiation (p<0.01). Furthermore, a longer duration of irradiation was proven to lead to a higher degree of polymerization (p<0.01). The results of this study indicate that sufficient irradiation is effective in ensuring a polymerization reaction even for dual-cured resin composite and is recommended for root canal dentine bonding. |
