Abstract : | [Abstract]We measured the length of the sagittal condylar pathway, the arc of condylar rotation, and the curvature of the sagittal condylar pathway in a group of 18 subjects who had chronic bilateral anterior disc displacement without reduction, (ADDw/oR) and we compared the mean values of these quantities with those of a group of 16 subjects who had a normal temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disc position. There were no clinically observable symptoms except noise. For a P value of 0.05, there were no significant differences between the corresponding mean values of any of the measured quantities, Subjectively, we observed that the pattern of mandibular movement for the subjects in the ADDw/oR group was similar to the movement pattern for normal subjects. |
