Abstract : Taurodontism is one of the morphological abnormalies of the pulp cavity. In 1913, Sir Arther Keith described taurodontism as that condition in which teeth have large bodies and pulp chambers and very little root formation. This condition is thought to be due to many causes - for example, a retrograde evolutionary process. an atavistic feature, a Mendelian recessive trait, a mutation resulting from odontoblastic deficiency, and others. On roentgenographic examination we encountered hypertaurodontism in a boy, 14 years of age, with mental deficiency. It occurred bilaterally to the mandibular second molars. Due to physical condition the child could not walk until four years of age. Also the child's diet was entirely milk for his first four years of age. Taurodontism, in this case, may be related to the delayed physical development and disturbed nutrition.
