Abstract : This is a second report of studies on the occlusion of natural dentitions by evaluating the numbers of occlusal contacts. In this report, the numbers of occlusal contacts in the various positions of lateral border movement were studied from the casts mounted on the Dentatus articulator (ARL). Twenty subjects were chosen for this study. One of the interesting findings was that unilateral tooth contacts occurred during different lateral border positions when an opposite side was in the basic position: One subject was on the working side and three subjects were on the balancing side of the right lateral, whereas one subject was on the working side and seven subjects were on the balancing side of the left lateral border position of mandible. Other findings are seen in the following article.
