Abstract : Recently, it has been found that the Orion iodide ion electrode measurably responds to mercuric ion. Then, Orion solid-state iodide electrode for responsibility to mercuric ion was evaluated on the limit of detection, pH effect, interferences by other ions, and applications to urine analysis. The electrode detects low levels of mercuric ion precisely, but it suffers from notable interferences by pH, silver and chloride ion. However, measurements in two pH ranges and application of the known addition method convinced the authors that urine analysis may be possible without any notable error.
