Abstract : [Abstract] In recent years, marked advancement has been achieved in the techniques for measuring steroids, and particularly noteworthy is the radioimmunoassay (RIA) which has made it possible to perform ultramicro-quantification of plasma steroid. This report discusses a study of the testosterone (T) in peripheral plasma, which has high androgenic action, measuring of both male and female periodontal disease cases through its comparison with the T measured of normal male and female adults. It has been disclosed by this study that T levels in the peripheral plasma of normal male and female adults are 568+-200 ng/dl (N=8) for male aged 25 to 36 years, and 30+-14 ng/dl (N=8) for female aged 23 to 49 years whereas the levels measured of periodontal disease cases stand at 472.5+-171.69 ng/dl (N=14) for male cases of 30 to 54 years of age and 36.1+-15.28 ng/dl (N=16) for female cases of 19 to 59 years of age.
