Abstract : | [Abstract] Seventeen of maxillary molar bud isografts from 4-day-old hamsters in the pouch (80.5%) and 16 out of 17 molar bud isografts from 4-day-old hamsters in the subcutaneous site behind the ear (94.1%) continued development. Mature molar teeth had formed after 30 days. The transplants in subcutaneous space behind the ear exhibited less growth disturbance than those in the pouch. Of 17 molars harvested from the pouch, 12 molars (60%) showed root formation, whereas of 16 molars harvested from the subcutaneous space behind the ear, 13 molars (76.4%) showed root formation. For root formation of the transplanted molars the subcutaneous site behind the ear was much better than in the pouch. And it was much more satisfactory in the first molar than in the second molar. |
