Abstract : | [Abstract] The effect of filters, intravascular injection of dyes and filters plus injection of dyes on the microvascular contrast between the vessels and the surrounding tissue was studied through use of a rotating mirror microscope and a television microscope. In the rotating mirror method, neither the filters nor the injection of Evans blue improved the contrast between the arteriole and the venule. However, the use of NCB-10 filter (wavelength : 400-500 μm) with an injection of Evans blue improved the contrast in both the rotating mirror and television method. As for capillary diameter measurement, the contrast was realized with both NCB-10 and R-60 filters respectively. In the presence of Evans blue the R-60 (wavelength : 700-750 μm) markedly improved the contrast, particularly in the television method. These results suggest that it is necessary to employ the television microscope system, using R-60 or similar wavelength filters and injection of dyes simultaneously when capillary diameter is measured. |
