Abstract : | [Abstract] It is said that hypodontia appearing exclusively on bilateral maxillary canines is extremely rare. Bilateral absence of the primary upper canines in three brothers was studied and its possible developmental causations were discussed. In two of the cases the successional canine buds were absent while in the remaining case the successional canine buds were present. In these three infants no dental malformations or defects were observed except for agenesia of the maxillary primary canines. The mother has had no disease during pregnancy. One of the upper permanent canines was absent in the father, while the lower second and third molars were bilaterally missing in the mother. Thus, these are genetically interesting cases. |
