Abstract : [Abstract] Clinical application of an autotransplant technique was conducted on an 18-year-old female. Immediately following extraction, a third molar tooth was transplanted at the site of the mandibular right first molar. Observations of the status of the transplant were conducted for a period of 7 years and 5 months. In addition, two male patients underwent ceramic implant operations with the following results : Patient No.1, 68-year-old male. The patient complained of a foreign body sensation at the implant site 28 days after the operation. Implant mobility was observed to have increased after 14 days. Accordingly, both the temporary fixed prosthesis and the ceramic implant were removed. Patient No.2, 56-year-old male. After 2 years and 4 months, the patient had no complaint of discomfort with the implant and was demonstrating normal daily mastication and occlusion. Both radiographic and clinical examinations were normal. The case was therefore regarded as one of successful treatment. Details of experiences with patients who have undergone autotransplant and ceramic implant procedures are presented, together with a review of the literature and consideration of important aspects of both techniques.
