Abstract : We reproduced the image which is almost the same as that of the original conventional film by use of a new digital analyzing system. A diagram of this analyzing system is shown in Fig.1. The system consists of a reading apparatus, a writing apparatus, various analog processing units, a digital data input/output unit and an off-line general-purpose computer. Original conventional radiograms are set in the reading drum and then scanned by transmitted light, respectively, using the 25μ aperture. The reading drum rotates synchronously with the transverse of the reading head and the original images are scanned two dimensionally. The region of interest for analysis is precisely selected by clock signals originating from a sampling controller. The analysis in this study was performed by sampling with 40 pixel/mm. The optical density signals obtained are converted into electric signals by the optical sensor and then the densities from 0 to 3 are digitized with 12 bits by an A/D converter. They are then stored in the memory tape.
