Abstract : When sodium alginate solution and calcium chloride solution were mixed, calcium-alginate was produced and the compound was precipitated at the bottom of a test-tube. The authors performed an experiment to obtain a precipitate in a solid medium containing sugar, innoculated Stre. mutans in the medium and cultivated it. From the result, it was found that the precipitate of the calcium alginate around the growth colonies was dissolved and the dissolved area was shown as a clear zone (ring) a ring of hemolysis on blood agar and a zone of reaction for susceptibility test of antibiotic disk.
