Abstract : | [Abstract] In our pilot study which was published in a previous issue, the authors presented and proved that the plaster crown could be milled in successfully from a plaster block by computer-aided approach as a first step toward fabrication of coronal restorations by means of Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Numerically Controlled (NC) Machine Tools. Successive studies made more precise the construction of plaster crowns by application of mathematical calculations. Meantime, the authors developed a newer system with three dimensional coordinates and the magnescale detector in addition to a stepping motor which was used in the previous experiment. A perspective of our futuristic approach is to develop a whole system toward "Dental Automation." Therefore, continued papers will appear in future issues. |
