Abstract : [Abstract] This paper describes the concept and a method of a simple cephalometric analysis which is currently used in our department in the evaluation and treatment planning of orthodontic patients who have a posterior discrepancy problem. In the analysis, the position of the occlusal plane in the denture frame is related to the posterior discrepancy and the mandibular displacement. Criteria for evaluation of the occlusal plane in the denture frame are provided, as is the documentation of the standards for each of the measurements. In addition, the measurements of the denture frame of malocclusion samples, Skeletal Class III, Class III-open bite and Class I-open bite, are represented and a possible relationship between the posterior discrepancy and the development of Skeletal type malocclusions are described.
