Abstract : [Abstract] It is known that a palatal slit in the border of the primary palate and the secondary palate is found as a spontaneous cleft in C57BL/6 fetal and adult mice. A palatal slit involving a failure of fusion of the primary palate and secondary palate was found in 7 cases among 75 CL/Fr strain mouse fetuses. Such a particular type of cleft palate is not related to the people's so-called cleft palate, since the secondary palate is completely closed.
