Abstract : [Abstract] An experimental procedure and newly-developed system which permit analyzing the drug distribution in dental pulp of erupted teeth of adult rats are described. The procedure including embedding of frozen animals with carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) paste, preparation of the CMC block, and sectioning of erupted teeth was improved in this study; the system for a relative estimation with the tissue density measured from the autoradiogram was also developed. The system uses microphotometer equipped with personal computer (computerized microphotometry apparatus). By using this apparatus, the distribution of 14C-labelled compounds in periodontal tissues was determined in parallel with that in the cerebrum. The penetration mode of 14C-labelled compounds into dental pulp tissues is discussed.
