Abstract : [Abstract] As mentioned in our previous report (Part 1), treatment of an anterior open bite (minus overbite, within 3.0 mm, caused by thumb sucking) by the mitten therapy resulted in recovery of a good overbite and morphological improvement of the deciduous dentition. In some cases where the anterior open bite was accompanied by tongue thrusting, suppression of the thumb-sucking habit did not lead to satisfactory improvement of the open bite. In such cases, we applied a removable tongue crib (for anterior open bite) and an activator (for upper anterior protrusion). This therapy corrected the abnormalities in several months.
