Abstract : [Abstract] Orthodontic treatment of malocclusions associated with temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction is still challenging due to the lack of consensus and a uniform technique for repositioning the displaced condyle. Posterior condylar displacement is thought to be one of the main etiologic factors of TMJ dysfunction, therefore the condylar position must be analyzed and problems must be diagnosed and corrected during orthodontic management. A 25 year old female with severe malocclusion and TMJ dysfunction was treated by control of the occlusal plane using multiloop edgewise archwires to reposition the mandible anteriorly. Every orthodontist must be aware of the condylar position of their patients and must bring the condyle to a physiologically acceptable position.
