Abstract : | It is no exaggeration to say that the dentists and staff working in dental clinics are always exposed to a high level of risk arising from the infectious diseases prevalent in the oral areas of their patients, notably those with oral lesions of systemic diseases. Most infectious diseases of the oral region are caused by either bacteria or virus. Classification studies using improved anaerobic culture techniques have shown that the majority of bacterial infections derive from anaerobic bacteria and a relationship between infectious diseases and causative bacteria has been proposed (T.Uemoto, Dept. of Oral Biology). |
