Abstract : [Abstract] Following recent advances in vacuum technology, sputter deposition has become a widely used processing technique. Research was previously carried out by this department to discover whether, if this technique were applied in the dental field, it could be expected to improve the surface properties and mechanical features of dental materials. Furthermore, a reactive spattering when reactive gas was injected was carried out, the possibility of applying this system to the field of dentistry was investigated and reactive sputtering was attempted as a dental sputtering system and examined for prospective application. From the above-mentioned result, the following conclusions were obtained : 1) Sputter coating becomes a very useful method for the crown prosthesis device and especially for metals used in dentistry ; 2) Titanium coating can be easily performed for medical equipment and materials ; 3) It is possible that sputter coating is operated on high molecule materials which is poor heat ; 4) It is suggested that the application of titanium coating may be useful on wax molds prior to casting.
