Abstract : [Abstract] The adhesive quality of the organofunctional and the hydrolyzable group of the silane coupling agent to precious and nonprecious alloys was studied. The substances 3-Mercaptopropyltrimethoxysilane (SH), 3-methacryloxypropyltrimethoxysilane (MPS), 3-methacryloxypropyltriisocyanatosilane (ISO), 3-glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane (GD) and 3-aminopropyltrimethoxysilane (NH) were used as primers for the adhesion of poly (methyl methacrylate) to the alloys. After thermocycle testing, the bond strengths of SH primed Ag alloy were higher than the untreated specimens, but SH had no effect on nonprecious alloys. The bond strengths of MPS primed stainless steel and Au alloy were higher than the untreated specimens, but MPS had no effect on a Co-Cr alloy specimen. The bond strengths of ISO primed Co-Cr alloy and stainless steel were higher than that of the untreated specimens, respectively.
