Abstract　： [Abstract] Congenital disorders of the salivary glands are unusual and agenesis is particularly rare, so only very few reports are available. Generally, congenital absence of the major salivary glands is often regarded as part of other facial disorders. Developmental disorders of the salivary glands cause various disorders like xerostomia, a high incidence of caries, periodontal diseases, severe dental attrition, oral soft tissue inflammation and disorders of smell, mastication and swallowing. Here we report a case of congenital absence of the major salivary gland in a boy, who visited our department with the chief complaint of xerostomia.
