Abstract : [Abstract] CAD/CAM is used widely in the industrial world as a numerical control technique for precision metal processing. Recently this technique has been taken up by the dental world, and is greatly improving the quality of dental prostheses. It has not only a big advantage in solving weak points in dental cast technique and casting defects, but also produces unfailing precision. Several kinds of dental CAD/CAM machines have been developed by researchers. However almost all these machines fail to make allowances for individual occlusal movement functions. This paper shows a possible method for this occlusal function by using a computerized F.G.P. technique combining both a mandibular movement measuring system with six degrees of freedom and a three dimensional modelling/grinding machine.
