Abstract : [Abstract] Using the Denture Frame Analysis, this study evaluated the cephalometric differences between Japanese and Caucasians. Lateral cephalograms of 106 Caucasians were assigned to four study groups considering the Angle classification and skeletal open bite. The comparison with 61 Japanese referred to Angle class I, class III, and open bite. In norm occlusion, significant differences were found within the Denture Frame triangle but the frame itself showed similar angular relationships. On the other hand, the Denture Frames of Caucasian and Japanese differed in Class III malocclusion. Furthermore both open bite populations differed significantly in measurements of the Denture Frame Analysis that involved the occlusal plane. It was concluded that (1) the facial appearance of different malocclusions revealed_differences between the ethnic groups, e.g. in anterior and posterior maxillary dimension, inclination of incisors and the occlusal plane, and that (2) the Denture Frame Analysis could also differentiate between Caucasian individuals assigned to classes I, II, III, and open bite.
