Abstract : | [Abstract] Dental students, many of whom never worn any removable prosthetic denture before, have no idea of the feeling in the mouth. The purpose of this paper was to show students the changes in the degree of fitting of the palatal plate with the passage of time and the effects of the size of the plate on the tissues involved, based on a questionnaire survey and reports submitted by the students. We had a group of 4th grade students try on palatal plates in class, fill out questionnaires and turn in reports on the changes in their feelings toward the prosthetic device with the passing of time and the size of denture base. Many students felt umcomfortable and that realized they have learned by experience the degree that a structural defect in this kind of artificial device would effect their sense of incongruity. We felt there is a need to instruct students on how to design a denture base correctly. |
