Abstract : | [Abstract] Traumatic injury to the primary dentition may bring about several types of sequelae in the permanent successors, such as developmental disturbance of the tooth germ. However, the partial or complete arrest of root formation in permanent teeth is a rare complication. On the other hand, impaction or ectopic eruption of the permanent maxillary canine is a frequently encountered clinical problem. In this case report, we describe the long-term follow-up and treatment of a patient who suffered an injury to the deciduous anterior teeth at the age of 18 months. A partially arrested root formation in the permanent maxillary central incisor and an ectopic eruption in the maxillary canine occurred subsequent to the trauma in the deciduous maxillary incisors. These permanent teeth were tracted and positioned into the dentition by orthodontic treatment. The patient was satisfied because these teeth were arranged into the dentition in the normal eruption period of the permanent incisor. It seemed to be desirable for the mental development of the patient. |
