Abstract : [Abstract] The purpose of this study was to indicate a fabricating procedure for establishing occlusion of a complete denture based on an individual skeletal pattern. Lateral cephalometric radiography was used for the assessment of the occlusion in the skeletal frame. Before fabricating new complete dentures, the old complete denture should be analyzed for the following items; skeletal pattern, vertical dimension, occlusal plane, vertical location and inclination of the lower incisor. According to this analysis, the problems of occlusion were clarified and a design for the new complete denture was formulated based on compensation for the skeletal pattern. The principles for the occlusion of the natural dentition were applied in the new complete denture in order to prevent absorption of the alveolar ridges, wearing out of the artificial teeth and to be a prosthetic appliance for stress management. The fabricating procedure of the complete denture based on the skeletal pattern was as follows: assessment for the occlusion of the old complete denture, analysis of the skeletal pattern, decision of a numerical design for the new complete denture, arrangement of the lower teeth, measurement of the locations of the lower teeth, calculation of the inclination of tooth guidance and arrangement of the upper teeth.
