Abstract : | [ABSTRACT] We have demonstrated the expression of the activated Matrix metalloproteases (MMP) in the early development of submandibular gland (SMG) in rats using a conbination of film in situ hybridization (FIZ) and immunohistochemical techniques. FIZ was recently developed which was detected MMPs directly on sections. The expression of MMPs was shown mainly in ductal cells, which used FIZ and immunohistochemical techniques, in early development of SMGs in rat. These data suggest that MMPs is identified in the normal SMG of rats and located only in the duct system, and that activated form may play an important role in cell proliferation and growth of the glands. |
