Abstract : [Abstract] To clarify the role of BisphenolA (BPA), Bis-GMA (GMA) and diethylstilbestrol (DES) as endocrine chemicals, estradiol-17β(E2) and testosterone (T) were assayed in me serum of prepubertal male rats treated with these chemicals. Wistar rats were injected subcutaneously with BPA or GMA dissolved in com oil, respectively, every other day, from 3 to 11 weeks of age. We analyzed the effects of the chemicals on the E2 and T levels in serum by radioimmuno assay (RIA). The testis weights were reduced by E2, DES and low dose (5μg) of BPA, thought GMA had no effect on the weight. The decrease of serum T were observed in the rats treated with E2 (5μg), DES (5μg) and low doses of BPA and GMA. E2, DES and high dose (5mg) of BPA enhanced the serum E2, though low dose of BPA and GMA were ineffective. These results mean that BPA acts on the E2 or T production as an endocrine disrupting chemicals in the prepubertal male rat, though the potency is much weaker than E2 or DES.
