Abstract : In the last year of the 20th century, Kanagawa Dental College started a new research project titled "Project to Develop High Technology for Diagnosing and Treating Diseases of the Craniomandibular System - Establishment of Individualized Medical Care." The duration of the project will be five years, from 2000 through 2004. New laboratories and project offices were outfitted in the Research Building of Kanagawa Dental College. The new facilities are called the Research Center of Advanced Technology for Craniomandibular Function. The Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology funded this project through a Grant-in-Aid for Bio-venture Research. The nine research themes comprising the project are: 1. A molecular biological approach to the etiology of temporomandibular disorders 2.
