Abstract : | The purpose of this study was to describe the preliminary trial of the cone beam CT "NewTom" for the maxillofacial region and the new workflow of the implant preoperative exploration. The image reconstruction region of this equipment was the cylindrical range of 130mm diameter and 130mm height. The voxel size was 0.25×0.25×0.25mm. The exposure quantity was about 1/5 in comparison with the conventional CT. It was possible to immediately obtain the high resolution optional cross section images after image processing. We could set up the optional cross section image thickness over 1.0mm at every 0.1mm. The workflow of the implant preoperative exploration using this equipment needs only two times patient visiting to the hospital. It is possible that time-related and physical burden is reduced. We could do the high accuracy and detailed implant preoperative exploration using the cone beam CT. |
