Abstract : | The supratrigeminal nucleus (sV) contains commissural gamma aminobutyric acid (GABA)ergic neurons that send axons to the motor trigeminal nucleus (Vm). In the present study we synthesized digoxigenin-labeled cRNA probes to two isoforms of glutamic acid decarboxylase (GAD), now termed GAD65 and GAD67, for in situ hybridization. In the sV, expressions of two types of GAD mRNAs were observed. There was no difference in expression on cell somata and neuronal distribution between GAD65 and GAD67. These results suggests that two types of GAD probes may be useful for quantitative and qualitative studies of GAD65 and GAD67 gene expression in the postnatal development of rat brain. |
