Abstract : | [Points] 1. Studies are performed with different study design. 2. Different studies have their own levels of evidence. 3. Meta-analysis & RCT are high level studies. 4. Different types of study have different clinical significances. 5. Research evidence by itself rarely tells us what to do in individual situations. [Introduction] In order to solve the clinical question, it is necessary to proceed step-by-step, constructing an appropriate question and searching the literature (see more in detail in Chapters 2 & 3) until finally several articles are found. This may yield many different types of studies. These original studies in humans may be classified as Case reports, Case series, Case-control studies, Cross-sectional studies, Cohort studies, and Randomized controlled trials. Further, one of the best secondary published articles is referred to as the "Systematic review. "However, these differences are not often recognized by general practitioners. The purpose of this article is to introduce the classification of clinical studies, its hierarchy and clinical significance. |
