Abstract : [Key Points] ・There is no reliable evidence that the clinical performance of ceramic inlays is as good as or better than that of metal inlays. ・There is no obvious difference in longevity or patient satisfaction between direct composite veneer restorations and indirect porcelain veneer restorations. ・There is no reliable evidence that shows the superiority of any particular pulp treatment technique in treating primary molar teeth. ・There is no good evidence that the application of ozone gas has any effectiveness in preventing dental caries. ・Little evidence relating to routine dental practice is available in operative / restorative dentistry. ・Further meta-analysis is undertaken in a Cochrane review. In this chapter, we introduce some evidence obtained in searches of the literature of conservative dentistry, including operative / restorative dentistry and endodontics but excluding periodontal therapy, in the Cochrane reviews. We identified four systematic reviews relating to operative / conservative dentistry in the oral health field of the Cochrane reviews. Two of the reviews were related to dental restoration, one compared various forms of pulp treatment in primary teeth, and the fourth sought to establish that ozone is effective in treating dental caries. Summaries of the reviews follow.
