Abstract : [Abstract]This study evaluates the effectiveness of the CoJet system through a comparative analysis with the Rocatec system. The morphology and composition of CoJet Sand were analyzed using a scanning electron microscope and electron probe micro analyzer. The effect on the surface characteristics of dental alloys and ceramics was also analyzed. The results of the study revealed that CoJet Sand consists of aluminum compound particles with a silicatized surface layer. It was further indicated that CoJet Sand produces a firm silica layer on the surface to be bonded. The CoJet system was developed to simplify the intraoral application of the Rocatec system, and the processing step was reduced from two steps to one for further simplification. Similar to the Rocatec system, the CoJet system is used to alter surface characteristics by sandblasting which brings about the tribochemical anchorage of silica coating, and is thus effective in providing improved adhesion in surface pretreatment.
