Abstract : [Abstract]A newly reported nylon-based denture material has the property of high flexibility and the possibility of using this material in non-metal clasps for partial dentures was suggested. The purpose of this study was to determine the mechanical properties of a nylon-based resin material. The bending characteristics of the following materials were examined: nylon resin (Lucitone FRS), heat-cured polymeric resin, PMMA injection-molded resin, and polycarbonate resin. The modulus of elasticity and maximum bending stresses were calculated from the resulting load-deflection curves. Lucitone FRS elastic modulus was statistically significantly the lowest. The maximum bending stress of Lucitone FRS was intentionally low compared to other materials. However, Lucitone FRS possesses bend stress equal to other materials. Specimens of Lucitone FRS did not fracture, but bent excessively. The high flexibility of the nylon resin, as demonstrated by its low modulus, indicates its potential use in non-metal clasps for partial dentures.
