Abstract : [ABSTRACT]To investigate the relationship between sleep bruxism and lifestyle in children, 109 students' parents of an elementary school in Kawaguchiko Town have answered the questionnaire. The questionnaire includes the following 5 factors: (I) Feelings of Sleep Maintenance, (II) Parasomnias, (III) Sleep Apnea, (IV) Difficulty in Waking up, and (V) Difficulty in Sleep Onset. Simultaneously, Mandibular impression was obtained from each student for designing a device ("BruxChecker") that evaluates bruxism, The children were classified into a Severe Bruxism group, and a Mild Bruxism (includes None) group based on the assessment of the affected areas of the BruxChecker. As a result, Factor (I), i.e., Feelings of Sleep Maintenance, and its subcomponent, Sound Sleep were significantly better in the Severe Bruxism group than in the Mild Bruxism (includes None) group. There was the possibility that sleep bruxism in lower grades play a different role in the development process of the brain functions.
