Abstract : [ABSTRACT] We examined whether the amount of Aβ protein detected With the hippocampus and the plasma of the molarless senescence prone (SAMP8) mice, to study correlation between the amount of Aβ protein in the hippocampus and in the plasma. We extracted all upper molar teeth of 8-week-old male SAMP8 mice (n=16). We measured the amount of Aβprotein in the hippocampus and the plasma of SAMP8 molarless-mice either at 24 weeks (n=9) or 48 weeks (n=7) of age using commercial ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) kit. Our results clearly show that quantitative detection of Aβ protein is available both from the hippocampus and the plasma of the SAMP8 mice, and that the mean amount of Aβ protein in the hippocampus and the plasma were significantly larger in the molarless SAMP8 mice at 48 weeks of age than those at 24 weeks of age. It would be likely that the amount of Aβ protein in the hippocampus tended to correlate with that in the plasma of SAMP8 molarless-mice.
