Abstract : [ABSTRACT] In a patient of the dentistry, there are a lot of patients appealing for uncomfortable feeling of occlusion. In the cause, there are the poor contact relations of the tooth of the upper and lower, defectiveness of the adaptability of the prosthetic device, temporomandibular disorders, and mental disorders. The dentist has trouble with the treatment of the patient with a mental disorder. A purpose of this study is to examine the association between complaint and mental disorder about occlusion. The object is 224 examples that had a checkup in department of Occlusion&Liaison in Kanagawa Dental Hospital for eight years until from April, 2001 to March,09. It was the, male 62 examples(Mean50.31+-SD2.260), woman 162 examples (Mean50.03+-SD0.995). For psychiatrical 161 people who had an interview of those, I examined complaint about occlusion and the relevance of the mental disorder statistically this time and added examination about the relevance with the result of GHQ-60 (General Health Questionnare-60) used as a screening test of the mental disorder more. I found a coefficient of correlation for statistics processing and found meaningful probability by square X official approval. As a result of having examined a document provided from dental basic inspection and a psychiatrical medical interview, about this object example, I was not able to recognize "a suit about occlusion" and statistical relevance of "the presence of the mental disorder". However, relevance with the psychology test (GHQ-60) was shown for "the suit about occlusion". In addition, point count rises by the patient appealing for "I do not understand which position I should have got caught at", "the contact of the tooth is unpleasantness"; in other words that a tendency of "the neurosis"became higher was suggested. In addition, it was thought that it was necessary to cope in consideration of "the state that a dejection state was aggravated" when a patient appealed with "Not in pain clenching".
