Abstract : Titanium dioxide (TiO2) has proven to be a chemically and physically stable and safe for use as an additive in foods and cosmetics. At the beginning of the 1970s, the photoinduced decomposition of water on TiO2 electrodes was discovered by Fujishima and Honda in Japan. This phenomenon was termed "TiO2 photocatalyst," and it is well-known that TiO2 under low-intensity ultraviolet (UV) light has the following features: antimicrobial, antifouling, deodorizing, hydrophilic, and self-cleaning.
