| Abstract ： | 「緒言」開咬は, 歯科矯正学的に現在もっとも治療が困難とされている不正咬合の1つである. 本症の患者においては"ものが咬みきれない"あるいは"正しく発音できない"というような口腔機能の障害ばかりでなく, 顎顔面部の水平あるいは垂直的な成長発育の不調和など, 形態的な問題を伴うことが多い. 小児期における開咬は, 形態的な特徴は著明でなく, むしろ口呼吸や舌前突などの機能的な問題をもつものが多い. しかし, それらの不調和と成人の開咬にみられる形態的特徴への移行に関してはまだ不明な点が多く, 口腔周囲の機能的発達を含めて今後十分に研究されるべき課題の1つといえよう. 本研究は, 成長発育期にある小児開咬患者の形態的および機能的特徴を明確にし, 成人開咬者にしばしばみられる顎顔面部の垂直的な不調和がどのように顕在化してくるのかを探ることを目的として行われたものである. |

| Abstract ： | In a sample of children with / wihout anterior openbite, the relationship between masticatory muscle activity and specific craniofacial variables has been quantified. Muscle data were odtained from the masseter and anterior temporal muscle in maximum clenching. The results were as follows. 1. Children with anterior openbite had more hyperdivergent face than control, but there was no difference with ramus height. 2. Maximum bite force was weak in openbite paticnts. 3. Higher position of upper first molar was obvious in openbite patients. 4. Masticatory muscle activity was lower in openbite patients than in control, espcially in masseter. 5. Power spectra of the EMG data indicated that median frequency was higher in masscter with openbite than control. These findings have suggested the low activity or characteristic modification of masticatory muscles in children causes to form the short rami and more hyperdivergend face in anterior openbite patients. |
