Abstract : 先に北村はヒトの二次口蓋の発生と鼻口蓋管の発生について, くわしく発表した. それは口蓋板挙上の時と様式, 鼻口蓋管の形成とその後の運命を正しく知ることが, 唇口蓋裂の発現機構を知る有力な手がかりになるからであった. マウスの口蓋の発生については多数の論文があるが, 口蓋板の挙上様式と挙上時期についての解釈が学会で割れている. 口蓋板が片方ずつ挙上されるという学説を受け入れる学者の方が多いようで, 例えば, Inouye (1912), Peter (1924), Fraser & WaIker (1951, 1956), TrasIerら(1956)橋本ら(1967)がマウスについて, そのような実験結果と解釈を発表している. Fraser (1961)によるマウスの実験的口蓋裂の研究では, その奇形発現の頻度は口蓋板挙上期がマウス系によって異なる点に依存していることが指摘されている. 一方, Fitch (1957)の突然変異系マウスによる実験では頭の大きさと口蓋板の発達が取り上げられ, 口蓋板癒合の時期が口蓋裂発現の頻度に関わりを有するという.

Title : Development of the secondary palate in CL/Fr strain mouse : Palatal closure and formation of the nasopalatine ducts.

Abstract : Of 209 fetuses ranged in age from 14 days to full term which were examined under magnifying glasses, 147 cases were noncleft and remaining 62 cases were cleft lip. The incidence of cleft lip in this strain was 29.7%. Of 66 fetuses ranged in age from 13 days to full term which were examined histologically, 44 cases were noncleft and 22 cases were cleft lip. In this strain elevation of the palatalshelves took place at 14 days, palatal fusion commenced 15 to 16 days, and palatal closure completed by the end of 17 days at the latest. In 5 cases of 15 days to 18 days, one of the palatal shelves was vertical and the other was horizontal. In a 15 days fetus the shelves were horizontal in the future soft palate area, and yet the shelves were vertical in the hard palate ares. It is very interesting that in a 17 days fetus with a unilateral lip cleft and hard palate cleft, the soft palate alone was closed normally. The time of palatal elevation and closure in this strain was delayed one to one and a half days compared with that in the hybrid mouse. The nasopalatine duct was formed as an open duct from the beginning at the junction of the primary and secondary palate, when the palatal shelves were fused. In the cleft lip cases, no nasopalatine duct was formed.
