Abstract　： 「抄録」 神奈川歯科大学付属病院矯正科が開設されて10年目になる. この間多少の社会情勢の変化はあったが, 矯正治療を希望してくる患者の数は増加の一途をたどっている. そのため需要と供給のバランスは徐々にくずされ, 最近では, かなり長時間待機しなげれば治療を開始できない事態に陥っている. このような状況を改善し, これからも上昇するであろう矯正治療希望の患者数に対処するためにはどうしたらよいか, を考える基礎資料を作るため, 患者の動態調査を行った. その結果, 次のことが判明した. 患者は急激に増加の傾向にあり, 不正咬合を訴えてくる年齢は, 7～12才が全体の7割をしめている. 男女別にみると, 男子にくらべ女子の方が約2倍となっている. 不正咬合の種類別にみると反対咬合が約3割をしめ, つづいて上顎前突, 叢生の順となっている. 患者の地域分布をみると, 横須賀が約38%, 横浜が約20%をしめ, 県外はわずかに2%にすぎない. 外国人が約13%をしめているのは, 横須賀の特殊性をよくあらわしている. 次にAngleの分類をみると, I級とIII級がほぼ同じで, II級がやや多くなっている. 患者増加傾向に対処するためには, 医局員の治療だけでは自づと限界があり, 専門医の養成と学部教育の充実が必要不可欠の条件と思われる.

Abstract　： It was ten years since the Kanagawa Dental College was established in Yokosuka. In the course of the ten years, the number of orthodontic patients increased steadily, nowadays, the demand exceeded the supply. For the purpose of turning the tables in this favor, the investigation of following headings about patients was attempted. 1. Monthly and yearly number 2. Distribution of sex and age 3. Kinds of malocclusion 4. Distribution of regions Consequently, the data seemed to be a useful guide for the promotion of orthodontic practice.
