「4. Dilated odontoma」歯内歯dens in denteの一型

Abstract : A case of compound composite odontoma with impacted permanent upper right incisors in a seven-year-old boy is examined clinically and histopathologically. Macroscopically it contains 10 small sized teeth and two follicles with no hard tissue. Microscopically they are composed of enamel, dentin, cement and dental pulp. In one of them dens-in-dente structures are found. A number of cell debris are found entirely in the hard tissues, although the cell debris are more numerous in dentin, and less numerous in enamel and cement. Nevertheless, no particular chage is seen as to the shape and number of the dentinal tubules compared with those in the normal teeth. This fact suggests the following : 1) All dentinal fibers of the odontoblasts in the pulp of the matured teeth bo not staat from the E-D junction, instead many of them must start from in the middle even in the normal dentin, 2) Development of the odontoma in this case which would be related to a supernumerary tooth bud, could be due probably to fetal viral infection.
