Abstract : In 1882, von Recklinghausen described a disease characterized by a neurofibromatosis of the skin, the peripheral nerves, and a cutaneous pigmentation (cafe au lait spots). There are several hypothesis to explain this disease : 1-infections. 2-toxis. 3-insufficiency of endo-rine glands, 4-ectodermal theory. 5-mesodermal theory. 6-teratologic theory. All those are but hypothesis. We had a case of a 36 year old mother. A skin tumor appeared all over her body with brown pigmented spots. Her 5 year 5 month daughter had brown spots on her face, arms and legs, associated with an oral lesion (tongue). This lesion was confined to the right side of the tongue (sublingual) and the floor of the mouth was normal. Following routine infiltration anesthesia, this lesion was surgically eliminated. The patient had an uneventful recovery and there was no sign of recurrence 2 years after the operation.
