Abstract : Abstract : The occurences of compound odontoma have frequently been reported so far. But they have been described with those apparently associated with permanent dentition. It is said that compound composite odontoma in children is rare. We met three cases of compound composite odontoma in children in recent five years in our consulting room. First, a girl aged four years and eleven months, had no subjective symptoms. We found a slight swelling in the AB region and calcificated globuli on radiographic examination, but the color of gingiva was normal. The mass, which had been extracted from maxillary bone, contained 3 small-size teeth and 2 denticle like materials. Micrscopically, they showed calcified material composed of almost normal dentine, cementum, and dental pulp. Second, a girl aged six years and seven months, had a slight swelling in the DC region without pain. The swelling in the DC region was globular, but the color of her gingiva was normal. Macroscopically, what had been extracted from the swelling contained 9 small-size teeth and microscopically, it showed a typical compound composite odontoma. Third, a boy aged eight years and nine months, had a swelling like the tip of an index finger in C palatal region, but the gingival color was normal. By electrodiagnosis, C showed non-vital. The small fiblous mass which had been shelled out contained 49 small-size teeth and 14 denticle like material. Microscopically they contained a variety of calcified materials and showen a typical compound composite odontoma.
