| Abstract ： | 「緒言」 1940年以来, 広く臨床に応用されてきたSnyder testは, Lactobacilliをう蝕の主要原因菌であると考えられていた時代に考案されたものであり, 現代のう蝕の病因論には, すでに理論的一致をみないものとなってしまった. また, 従来から用いられている多くの試験法についても, う蝕が多因子性疾患であるという理由で, 単一の要因をとらえることの限界が指適されている. しかし, 微生物要因のうち, 最も強力な因子と考えられるStr. mutansをう蝕活動性試験の指標としてとらえようとする試みは, 以外に少なく, Fitzgeraldらによって, Str. mutansがう蝕の主要原因菌であると証明されてからも, GoldらのMSB培地を用いたscreening testが考案されたのみである. 近年, 報告されたMSBB testも, 基本的には彼らの試験法と同一のもので, 操作性, 培地の安定性などの点で多くの改善点が残されている. |

| Abstract ： | Abstract : We have developed a new caries activity test, "KKY test", based on Str. mutans in plaque material and reported that KKY test lends itself more readily to dental practice, since observation of color change is much easier than counting the number of bacterial colonies. This paper includes the results of an utilization to apply a simple colorimetric method for the estimation of the relative numbers of Str. mutans in the plaque. 117 pre-school children (caries free group : dft =0.74) and 206 pre-school children (caries rampant group : dft=8.68) were investigated and statistically analyzed on the relationship between the caries activity test score and the increments of decay after 6 months and one year. The following results were obtained, : 1. KKY test was most useful to the increments of decay after 6 months in caries free group. 2. In the same group, the forecastness of KKY test was decreased to the increments of decay after one year. 3. In the caries rampant group, statistical significance was not shown in the relation between the test score and the increments of decay. |
