Abstract　： 「緒言」 紅花(Carthamus tinctorius Linne；carthamus t.)は生薬としてすぐれた有効性をもち, とくに通経薬として血行障害の治療あるいは婦人病の治療に使用されている他, 冷え症や更年期障害などに用いられている. また, 歯科領域では, 血液循環改善および静脈系うっ血除去を目的に, 急性化膿性歯髄炎または化膿を伴った急性歯周組織炎の治療に用いられる. このような活血去於薬としてのcarthamus t.と同じキク科に属するアルニカ(Arnica monta Linne；arnica m.)は, 浸剤として神経脈管系興奮作用をもつ. これら2種類の生薬は, ともに末梢循環を改善することにより臨床的効力をもっと考えられるが, その薬理作用についてはほとんど知られていない. そこでわれわれは, 水あるいはethanolで抽出したそれぞれ2種のcarthamus t.とarnica m.を用い, 下肢灌流法による末梢循環系にたいする効果を薬理学的に比較検討すると同時に歯科への応用の可能性を考察した.

Abstract　： Abstract : The effect of carthamus t. or arnica m. was studied on canine peripheral circulation. Carthamus t. or arnica m. produced the increase in blood flow in femoral artery, in a dose-dependent manner. This increase was markedly inhibited by diphenhydramine, H1-receptor blocking agent, or by compound 48/80, potent histamine releaser. Atropine, muscarinic receptor blocker, or propranolol, β-adrenoceptor blocking agent had no effect on the increase in the blood flow induced by carthamus t. or by arnica m. These resuls suggest that the action of carthamus t. or arnica m. on the blood flow is mediated by liberation of histamine from a certain tissue.
